After the 6th century, the sacrifices to the gods were replaced by sacrifices of desperate lovers. Of the whimsical girls who lost their lives jumping from here, the rock was called "Sappho Alma" and later "Kavos of Kyra". One of the most interesting sights in Lefkada, worth visiting.

From the castle of Agia Mavra to Gyra. At the entrance of the island welcomes you the sturdy Castle. In 1300 the Venetian ruler John Orsini took Lefkada for ... dowry and began to build it. Visit Egremni Beach

Egremni beach in Lefkada, Greece after the earthquake in October 2015 is now closed.

The last earthquake in 2015 has set the most stunning and wild beach on the island of Lefkada as closed for the public.

All the 300 steps together with the footpath were collapsed by the earthquake. 

It is also known as "50 shades of blue" beach and is located (40km southwest of the city of Lefkada) on the west coast of the island.

Egremni became recently isolated due to the big earthquake and it is now accessible only by boat! While approaching the coast, it is impossible to resist to the vibes of this magic and unique beach.

How to access Egremni Beach after the earthquake 

Egremni Beach was hit badly by the earthquake. The access to this stunning and wild beach is harder than before. You can go by car the area of the old parking, but this is senseless as there are no stairs going down. The only available way through is only by boat on a private or semi-private cruise.

The sea, following nature's flow, is restoring itself little by little. The huge winter waves wash out the huge collapsed rocks and the landslides.

In front of the canteen, you will find the great view of huge rocks into the sea, light blue waters, and a small beach. There is also small parking here serving not a big amount of cars (parking serves both beaches) and for that reason, someone has to visit early in the morning in order to find their parking space. Kavalikefta is an empty but very beautiful beach next to Megali Petra. It looks a bit like Milos beach. Make sure you do not run out of the basics if planning to come to Kavalikefta beach. Here is a great place for free camping and nudism or just to spend a long day.
