Reaching Lefkada by Car 

Driving - especially for those coming from other closeby regions of Greece - is the easiest way to come to Lefkada, as the island is connected with the mainland via a floating bridge, making it easily accessible by car.

From Athens, it's approximately a 4-hour drive, while Thessaloniki is about 3.5 hours away. Just keep in mind that during peak summer months, the roads can get crowded, so plan your journey accordingly.

If coming from abroad, maybe not that easy, as you have to be prepared for driving some very long hours, before you reach the bridge. 

 

Reacing Lefkada by Plane

Lefkada is a stunning destination, however there is no airport in the island! But don't worry, the closest one to Lefkada is PVK Aktion Airport located at 25 min driving (almost 25km away), in Preveza - an amazing town on the Greek mainland in the region of Epirus.

Aktion National Airport stays active throughout the year, but only with domestic flights coming in from Corfu and Zakynthos! During summertime, there are additional flights from all sorts of places in Europe - making it the perfect destination for your next getaway!

Be informed that there are currently no flights operating between Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" and Aktion National Airport. Preveza is closely linked to Lefkada by taxi or KTEL bus, thanks to the bridge connecting the mainland. Reaching Lefkada by Boat

Accessing Lefkada from the mainland has become a breeze thanks to the bridge connecting the two. You can easily drive or take a bus and arrive in no time! Consequently, there is no possible way to travel by ferry between Lefkada and the mainland.

In addition, there isn't a direct ferry route from Athens to Lefkada available at the moment. You can reach Lefkada by ferry only from Ithaki, Kefalonia and Meganisi. Those routes are served by the ports of Nidri and Vasiliki your contact them here. 

Since summer 2022 there are also ferry lines connecting the Lefkada with Zakynthos and Corfu (all Ionian islands), every second day.

The routes are carried out via (passengers only) High Speed Azimut Joy Cruises.

Take a ferry to Nidri or Vasiliki ports and experience an easy and smooth journey. Both these ports have public transport options as well, but hiring a car or taxi is the best way to reach your destination quickly.
